Boilerplate

AWARE Community Foundation (Alberta Wagering Awareness & Responsible Education) is an independent Alberta non-profit company that brings betting-risk education to Alberta’s high-school and youth club teams, delivered by university athletes from the same sport. Sessions take place in the team’s own space with the coach present. They cover the law, how betting reaches young people, sport integrity, and where to find help. They never teach how to bet. Pilot sessions are planned for 2027. The Foundation will be funded through a single pooled fund from Alberta’s licensed gaming industry, and governed independently of it. No funder is credited on any program. No funder’s name or logo appears anywhere near young people. No funder has editorial influence. Its accounts will be independently audited and published in full.

Co-founder and interim chair

Victor Cui is a sport-business executive who has spent his career building sports properties and community programs across Canada and Asia. He co-founded AWARE Community Foundation so that young athletes in Alberta get honest, independent betting-risk education as the province’s new online betting market grows. Full bio, roles, and approved photography available on request.

Where things stand

As of October 2026, AWARE has delivered no sessions and signed no funding agreement. We have committed not to sign an operator funding agreement until a majority of our directors are independent. Our board and adopted policies are published on the governance page.

Young people and media

We do not arrange interviews with, or photographs of, athletes under 18. For comment, a member of our board is available through info@awarecf.com. Once our University Athlete Ambassadors (all 19 or older) are recruited in 2027, we can connect you with one of them too.

Two things we will always say on the record. First: we are neutral on legal adult gambling, and we are not neutral about betting reaching people under 18. Second: we will be funded by Alberta’s licensed operators through one pooled fund and governed independently of them, with no funder ever in front of a young athlete. We will hand you the structure that makes that true rather than ask you to take it on faith.
